Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the Law.
This phrase is not an incitement to carelessness, but a mandate to discover and fulfill one’s essential nature or path in life. This True Will is the expression of one’s deepest, most genuine self which exists in perfect accord with the Universe. Those who are dedicated to this path are known as Thelemites.
Carnival springs forth from the ecstatic spirit that is the lifeblood of all that is true and vital in our culture. It speaks to our nature as humans, as incarnate, biological creatures who seek knowledge and joy. Thelema does not reject, repress or stigmatize the flesh, but embraces it as sacred. On New Orleans’ pot-holed streets, we Thelemites share in the heirship, communion, and benediction of the maskers and revelers of ancient times. Our will is to spread the principles of Thelema, the Law of Liberty.
Krewe What Thou Wilt, established 2015 e.v., is the first officially recognized O.T.O. presence in Carnival. We roll the first parading night of Mardi Gras season and are honoured to do so under the auspices of krewedelusion, a satirical and surrealist Mardi Gras parade – “a parade with a purpose on the night of delusion.” Krewe What Thou Wilt is the Mardi Gras Krewe of Alombrados Oasis Ordo Templi Orientis (O.T.O). O.T.O. is dedicated to the high purpose of securing the Liberty of the Individual and his or her advancement in Light, Wisdom, Understanding, Knowledge, and Power through Beauty, Courage, and Wit, on the Foundation of Universal Brotherhood.
“Keep always this dim corner for me, that I may sit while the Green Hour glides, a proud pavine of Time. For I am no longer in the city accursed, where Time is horsed on the white gelding Death, his spurs rusted with blood. There is a corner of the United States which he has overlooked. It lies in New Orleans…”
Love is the law, love under will.
